Gustavo de Brum Nunes | Exclusive Interview

What was the decisive moment that made you decide to become an entrepreneur/business owner?

"My professional journey began very early within the business environment. I joined the company where I still work today at a very young age, and over more than two decades, I have had the opportunity to grow alongside the business, taking on various responsibilities in administration, finance, operations, and international trade.

Rather than a single turning point, it was a natural process of professional evolution. Over the years, I realized I had a strong affinity for process organization, planning, and operational structuring. This frequently placed me in positions where I needed to help build solutions and support the company's growth.

When I decided to move to the United States, the company already had an established operation here, and the opportunity arose to take over the branch’s management. This represented a significant milestone in my career; not only did I continue contributing to the company where I built most of my professional path, but I also began working directly on developing and strengthening our operations in the American market. It was a new challenge, in a new country, and within a different business culture. This experience also sparked a desire in me to share my insights and help others who are going through the same process of relocation and adaptation."

What inspired you to take this path and what were the first steps?

"I have always been deeply curious about the inner workings of businesses. From early on, I identified with understanding processes, numbers, planning, and growth strategies.

Over time, I specialized in administrative and financial management, as well as international trade, which allowed me to work with global operations and gain a better understanding of the dynamics between different markets.

My initial steps were rooted in hands-on learning. I was involved in key projects within the company, such as process implementation, administrative restructuring, and operational improvement initiatives. One example was my participation in implementing a quality management system based on ISO 9001, which provided an even more structured perspective on processes and governance.

These experiences ultimately shaped my professional approach, always focusing on organization, planning, productivity, and continuous improvement."

How do you deal with failure or mistakes made along the way?

"I believe that mistakes are part of any professional journey, especially when dealing with significant decisions or complex projects.

Over the years, I have learned that the most important thing is not to avoid mistakes entirely—which is often impossible—but rather to learn from them quickly and adjust the course.

I always strive to view every challenge as a learning opportunity. When something does not go as planned, the first question I ask is: what can we improve in the process to prevent this from happening again?

This continuous improvement mindset was heavily influenced by my experience in process and quality management, and it has naturally become a fundamental part of the way I work."

Currently, what are the latest news/launches of your business/company and what major projects/launches are planned for the coming year 2026?

"Today, I manage the administrative, financial, and operational departments of the American branch of the company where I have worked for nearly 25 years. Our focus remains on strengthening the company's international presence, particularly across North America and Latin America.

At the same time, living in the United States and closely following the journey of many Brazilians relocating abroad, I began developing initiatives focused on international life planning and adaptation.

One of these initiatives is the 'Minha Vida USA' project, a website that connects Brazilians living in the U.S. with Portuguese-speaking professionals who can facilitate the transition. Additionally, I create content on Instagram to share experiences and guidance on relocation planning, while offering consulting services for individuals and families seeking better preparation for life in the United States. Simultaneously, I continue my professional role in managing the administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the U.S. branch, balancing corporate experience with initiatives dedicated to the Brazilian community and sharing knowledge on careers, planning, and adaptation abroad.

For the coming years, my goal is to continue strengthening these initiatives and expanding the reach of my content and consulting services, while further developing my career in management, finance, processes, and business operations. I aim to continue contributing to companies and projects that value organization, planning, and sustainable growth, while supporting Brazilians who wish to build a life in the United States with greater preparation and security."

If you could go back in time, what would you say to your beginning entrepreneur self? What important advice would you give to someone who is starting now?

"I would say: have patience and consistency.

Today, we live in a world that often overvalues quick success, but the reality is that building a solid career typically happens over many years.

In my case, it took more than two decades of learning, taking on responsibilities, and facing new challenges. Each stage contributed to forming the professional foundation I have today.

For those just starting out, my advice would be: invest in constant learning, maintain discipline in your work, and always be open to new opportunities. Often, the greatest growth occurs precisely when we accept challenges that initially seem far too large."
